The Ottawa Senators continue their west coast road trip tonight in Vancouver where they take on the Canucks. The Senators and Canucks don’t meet up all that often and it’s probably a good thing for the Senators as they have won just 4 of the last 15 meetings dating back to 2005.
Head to Head Trends
Senators are 4-11 in the last 15 meetings.
Senators are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings in Vancouver.
Vancouver Canucks (-105)
The Vancouver Canucks are 5th in the Pacific Division with 58 points 16 points out of 1st place. The Canucks playoff hopes are fading fast as they are currently 10 points back of the 8th place Colorado Avalanche although I don’t think many people had very high hopes for this Canucks team for a while now.
For some reason this season the Canucks have one of the worst offenses in the entire league averaging just 2.34 goals per game and their defense hasn’t exactly been all that great either allowing 2.80 goals per game. There’s not really a whole lot more to say about this team apart from the fact they might even be getting worse losing 8 of their last 11 games.
Vancouver Canucks Trends
Canucks are 1-6 in their last 7 home games.
Canucks are 7-19 in their last 26 games following a win.
Ottawa Senators (-105)
The Ottawa Senators are 5th in the Atlantic Division with 64 points 11 points back of the 1st place Florida Panthers but more importantly just 4 points back of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final playoff spot in the East.
After slumping most of February it looks like the Senators are starting to heat up winning their last 4 in a row. The Senators got a pretty good offense averaging 2.79 goals per game but their defense has been their biggest weak point this season allowing 3.00 goals per game and that jumps all the way up to 3.43 goals per game on the road.
Ottawa Senators trends
Senators are 4-0 in their last 4 overall.
Senators are 19-7 in their last 26 vs. Pacific.
I like the Ottawa Senators over the Canucks in this one. It looks like the Canucks have packed it in for the season, they are playing some pretty bad hockey right now while the Senators seem to be catching fire at the right time winning their last 4 games in a row.
