Texas Rangers vs Tampa Bay Rays – MLB Preview – June 4, 2025

The Texas Rangers are back in action on Wednesday, June 4, as they play the second of a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays. The game will be held at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Florida. Tampa Bay took the first game 5-1 behind strong hitting and solid pitching.

Texas enters with a 29-31 record and has struggled on the road, sitting at 9-19 away from home. Tampa Bay is now 32-28 and has picked up wins in 10 of their last 13 games. This will be the second meeting between Shane Baz and Kumar Rocker this season, with Texas winning the last matchup 4-3 in April.

Rangers Preview – Looking to Break Road Struggles

The Rangers’ offense had only four hits in the series opener. Jake Burger drove in their lone run, and Adolis Garcia added a single and a run scored. The lineup has had trouble putting together consistent performances away from home, especially in the middle of long road trips.

Kumar Rocker returns from the injured list and will start. He is 1-3 with an 8.10 ERA in 2025 and has battled shoulder problems. His minor league rehab outings were solid, totaling seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts across two games, which gives the team some hope for improvement.

Evan Carter returned after missing time with a quad injury but went 0-for-1 in his first game back. The Rangers need more from hitters like Marcus Semien and Corey Seager, who have not produced as expected on the road. Texas is averaging only 3.4 runs per game in away games this year.

Rays Preview – Caminero Stays Hot at the Plate

Junior Caminero has been one of the best hitters in baseball over the past two weeks. He hit his 14th home run on Tuesday and now has six home runs and 18 RBIs in his last 10 games. His production has lifted the Rays, who are on a strong 10-3 run over their last 13 games.

Shane Baz takes the mound with a 4-3 record and a 4.92 ERA. He’s struggled with giving up home runs, allowing 12 in total, including two in three of his last four outings. Baz’s last start against Texas came in 2024, when he allowed three runs in five innings in a 3-0 loss.

The Rays have also gotten production from Kameron Misner, who hit a home run on Tuesday. The team is 8-1 in their last nine home games and has held opponents to three runs or fewer in seven of those contests. Tampa Bay’s bullpen has been solid lately, closing out games with ease.

Betting Prediction

Tampa Bay enters this game playing better baseball, especially at home. With Caminero locked in and Baz giving the Rays solid innings despite some home run issues, the team looks ready to take a 2-0 series lead. Texas has one of the worst road records in the league and has not shown enough offensive spark to back Rocker, who’s just returning from injury.

The Rays are favored at -144, while the run line is set at -1.5 with plus money on Tampa Bay. The total sits at 7.5. Given how the Rangers are struggling to score and the Rays’ current form, Tampa Bay should win this by multiple runs. A final score of 5-2 or 6-3 looks likely.

Pick: Rays -1.5
