Boston is scoring 4.97 runs per game and allowing 4.54. Their bullpen has a 3.55 ERA and has been effective in the later innings. Aroldis Chapman has a 1.25 ERA in 36 innings and has been one of their top relievers.
Ceddanne Rafaela had a big game Sunday and followed up with another strong showing on Monday. Trevor Story and other veterans have been swinging the bat well too. Boston has a 26-20 record at home and is looking to keep momentum into the All-Star break.
Rockies Preview – Freeland Gets the Ball for Struggling Colorado
Kyle Freeland gets the start for the Rockies. He’s 2-3 with a 4.76 ERA in his last five games, averaging about 5.2 innings per start. He gave up three runs over six innings in his last outing against the Astros.
Colorado’s pitching has been the main issue. The team ERA sits at 5.58, and starters have a 6.34 ERA. The bullpen has a 4.64 ERA and has allowed 175 runs in 311 innings. Tyler Kinley and Jimmy Herget have both struggled in recent appearances.
Offensively, Mickey Moniak is on a six-game hit streak and nearly hit for the cycle Sunday. Michael Toglia added a key home run. The Rockies are scoring just 3.56 runs per game and have a 37-51 over/under record on the year.
Betting Prediction
Boston is a -262 favorite with the total set at 9 runs. The Red Sox have the better lineup, a deeper bullpen, and are in better form. Colorado has not shown they can keep games close against above-average teams, especially on the road.
Freeland may give Colorado a chance early, but the Red Sox should do damage against the Rockies bullpen. With Boston’s offense hot and Colorado’s pitching struggling, this looks like another multi-run win for the home team.
