Michigan Wolverines vs. Penn State Nittany Lions – Week 11 CFB
Week 11 of the college football season is filled with some terrific matchups, including a huge clash in the Big Ten Conference. The Penn State Nittany Lions are set to host the Michigan Wolverines, and this is a battle of two Top 10 teams.
Michigan comes into this game as the third-ranked team in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, and they are legitimate title contenders. The Wolverines have rolled to a 9-0 record this season, but they have faced a weak schedule.
Penn State is coming into this game with a record of 8-1, but the lone loss came on the road at Ohio State. The Nittany Lions have already been tested a ton, but they hope that home field advantage can give them an edge.
Michigan is a five-point betting favorite on the road over Penn State on Saturday afternoon.
Wolverines Winning on Defense
The Michigan Wolverines are a team with a ton of talent, but their best aspect of this team comes on the defensive side of the football. Michigan is allowing less than seven points per game this season, and they are always putting pressure on opponents.
The dominance from this defense has also allowed the offense to shine, and that is a unit that is absolutely loaded with weapons. Running back Blake Corum is having another monster season as he has found the end zone 16 times this year.
Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy normally only has to manage games, but he has also thrown for 2,134 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. The Wolverines can simply beat teams in so many different ways.
Penn State Playing With Pace
Penn State is normally a team that has been winning games on defense, but they have an explosive offense this season. The Nittany Lions just scored 51 points last weekend at Maryland, and they can attack teams in many different ways.
Quarterback Drew Allar is having a big season with 20 touchdown passes, and he has also done a great job of taking care of the football. Penn State will need to run the ball effectively in this game if they are going to give the defense a chance.
The Penn State defense did hold Ohio State to just 20 points a few weekends ago, and that unit will need to put up another dominant performance in this matchup.
Wolverines Win Big
The fact that this game is at Penn State has impacted the odds a bit, but you shouldn’t get caught up in that. Michigan is the much better overall team in this game, and no one has been able to keep it close against them.
Penn State just isn’t going to be able to get enough stops in this game to stay close, and they don’t have an offense that can score in a hurry. Michigan doesn’t allow many touchdowns at all and that defense will set the tone on Saturday.
Bet the Michigan Wolverines -5.0 as they are going to roll over Penn State to remain undefeated on the year.
