The 124th Army-Navy game is set to take place this weekend at Gillette Stadium as the Army Black Knights will take on the Navy Midshipmen. This is known as America’s Game, and it is always one of the biggest college football games of the year.
Amy is bringing a 5-6 record into this game, but they are also coming into this game with a ton of momentum. The Black Knights have rattled off three straight wins and they have also beaten some solid teams.
Navy has been a pretty big disappointment this season, and they have actually suffered some bad losses along the way. The Midshipmen are still sitting at 5-6 on the year, but they missed out on some chances to win some games.
Army is coming into this game as a three-point betting favorite over Navy in what will be a big event.
Black Knights Have a Star
The Army Black Knights are coming into this game with a superstar at the quarterback position, and that might be the difference in this game. Bryson Daily has been able to lead this offense in a big way, and he will be a nightmare for Navy to deal with.
Daily has thrown for 859 yards and six touchdowns this season, but he also has the ability to run the football. Army is always on the attack on the ground this season, and Daily has set the tone with 817 yards and seven touchdowns.
There were some issues on defense for Army at times this season, but that unit appears to have figured some things out. The Black Knights have allowed 21 points or less in four straight games, and that defense must set the tone in this one.
Navy Has to Run
The Navy Midshipmen are averaging just 18.3 points per game this season, and they want to do all of their damage on the ground. Navy is averaging 200.5 rushing yards per game, but it’s going to take an even bigger effort to win this battle.
Quarterback Tai Lavatai has thrown for just 522 yards this season, and at some point Navy will have to let him throw it. Army is going to stack the box on Saturday in an attempt to slow down the Midshipmen.
Navy just allowed 59 points to SMU in the regular season finale, and that defense will need to respond in a major way. Stopping the run will obviously be a key, but the secondary will have to be ready to make a play.
Army Gets Job Done
This is a matchup of two teams that love to run the football, but at some point a passing play is going to have to be made. Navy hasn’t shown the ability to move the ball through the air at all, but Army does have a weapon at that position.
Bryson Daily is going to be the most important player in this game, and he is eventually going to break through and make enough plays for Army. Navy should be able to keep things close for awhile, but it is going to be the Black Knights that take control of this game in the end.
