Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets Betting Preview

NL East rivals will finish up a series on Sunday Night Baseball when the New York Mets host the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta has won each of the first three games in this series, and they have been embarrassing the Mets in the process.

The Braves just continue to roll through the National League as they are now 75-41 on the year. Atlanta is going to win the NL East Division barring an epic collapse, and they are also a favorite to win the World Series.

The New York Mets have been a major disappointment this season, and their playoff hopes are fading. New York has dropped to 52-65 on the year, and they appear to be giving up as the calendar has flipped to August.

The Braves are the moneyline betting favorites at -130 in the series finale against the Mets on Sunday.

Bats Red-Hot For Braves

The Atlanta Braves have scored a total of 34 runs through the first three games of the series, including 21 in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday. Atlanta is on pace to shatter the single-season home run record, and this lineup is loaded.

Matt Olson leads the National League with 42 home runs and 105 RBIs, but he might not even be the best hitter on the team. Ronald Acuna Jr is hitting .336 on the year and could also steal 75 bases this year.

Atlanta is dealing with some injuries in the starting pitching department, and it will be Yonny Chirinos starting on Sunday night. Chirinos is just 5-4 with a 4.83 ERA on the year, and he has struggled to go deep in games.

Not Enough Pitching For Mets

The New York Mets traded away Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer at the Trade Deadline, and it’s really hurt the pitching staff. New York comes into this game on Sunday night with a team ERA of 4.53, and that number has gotten worse this weekend.

Kodai Senga will be on the mound on Sunday night, and he is the best pitcher that the Mets have left. Senga is 8-6 with a 3.24 ERA this season, and he should at least be competitive against the Braves.

Pete Alonso is having a nice season for the Mets, but he just hasn’t had a ton of help. Alonso has 35 home runs and 87 RBIs, and he is a threat to homer every time that he steps in the box.

Braves Blowout the Mets

All three of the games in this series so far have been blowouts, and there is no reason to believe that this will be any closer. The Mets do have their ace starting in Senga, but the Braves are able to score runs against anyone.

Atlanta just continues to put up runs at a record clip, and that offense is red-hot heading into Sunday. Don’t expect another 21-3 drubbing like what took place on Saturday, but it’s not going to be particularly close.

Bet the Atlanta Braves run line at -1.5 as they cruise to another win and sweep the series.
