MLB Pick: Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers

Reds LogoOverview

The Cincinnati Reds are in Milwaukee today where they take on the Brewers in the second game of a three game series. The Brewers won won the first game fairly easily winning 9-5 which has been bit of a trend in this series of late as the Brewers have won 12 of the last 18 meetings versus the Reds.

Head to Head Trends

Over is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings.
Brewers are 12-6 in the last 18 meetings.

Milwaukee Brewers (-160)

The Milwaukee Brewers are 4th in the National League Central with a 22-26 record and 11 games back of the 1st place Chicago Cubs. The Brewers got off to a bit of a slow start this season but they have been playing better over the past month or so winning 15 of their last 25 games including the last 4 in a row.

The Brewers have a solid offense averaging 4.25 runs per game and they have a below average pitching staff allowing 4.85 runs per game but their pitching has been super good of late allowing just 2.80 runs per game over their last 10 games.

On the hill for the Brewers in this one is Chase Anderson who is 2-6 with a 5.33 ERA on the season. Anderson had a couple good outings to start the season but over his next 4 starts he wasn’t so good allowing 21 runs including 8 homeruns in just 19.1 innings of work. Anderson looks like he is pitching better again with a 3.66 ERA over his last 3 starts but he still allowed 4 homeruns over that stretch.

Milwaukee Brewers Trends

Brewers are 4-0 in their last 4 overall.
Brewers are 7-3 in their last 10 home games vs. a right-handed starter.

Cincinnati Reds (+150)

The Cincinnati Reds are last in the National League Central 18 games out of 1st place. The Reds are having a hard time this season their offense isn’t the best averaging just 3.83 runs per game but their pitching is their main probable allowing 5.92 runs per game and that gets even worse on the road allowing 6.48 runs per game.

Starting for the Reds today is Alfrado Simon who is 1-5 with a 10.16 ERA on the season. Simon has been absolutely horrible this season he has an ERA over 10 8 starts in the season which is almost unheard of but he did have a pretty good start versus the Brewers a few weeks back giving up just 3 earned runs over 7.1 inning of work.

Cincinnati Reds Trends

Reds are 14-37 in their last 51 road games.
Reds are 1-9 in Simons last 10 road starts.

Conclusion

I’m going with the Milwaukee Brewers over the Reds again today. The Reds have probably the worst starting pitcher in the league going today plus they also have the worst bullpen in the league so I don’t see much going right for the Reds in this one.
