Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

The Philadelphia Eagles (8-0, 4-0 home) look to stay undefeated in an NFC rivalry showdown against the Washington Commanders (4-5, 2-2 away).

Philadelphia took care of Washington, 24-8, early this season in a Week 3 victory in D.C. The Commanders lead the all-time series 88-83-6.

Monday night’s kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. EST at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Philadelphia is an 11-point favorite, and the over/under total is 43.5 points.

What to Know – Washington Commanders

Washington broke a three-game winning streak last week on a last-second field goal against the Minnesota Vikings. Even with the three consecutive victories, the Commanders remain at the bottom of the NFC East division.

With Carson Wentz on the injured reserve, the quarterbacking duties have been handed over to Taylor Heinicke. In three games, Heinicke has completed 63% of his passes, throwing for 629 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The Commanders don’t feature much of a rushing attack, rushing the ball 239 times for 972 yards. When Washington does rush it, the ball is going to either Antonio Gibson, or Brian Robinson Jr. Gibson leads the team with 328 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Robinson Jr. has added 219 yards and a score since returning from a pre-season injury that kept him out of the first month of play.

Wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel highlight the Washington passing attack. McLaurin has hauled in 38 of 62 targets, tallying 609 yards and two touchdowns. Samuel leads the team with 45 receptions and adds 455 yards and three TDs.

What to Know – Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles remain the only undefeated team in the NFL and can extend their unbeaten streak and add to their franchise record start. Philadelphia owns a two-game advantage over the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.

Jalen Hurts has been a big piece of the successful start for the Eagles. Hurts has thrown for 2,042 yards and added 326 yards rushing. The third-year quarterback has accounted for 18 touchdowns, 12 passing, and six rushing, and only turned the ball over two times.

Leading running back Miles Sanders is already closing in on his 2021 rushing totals. The back has 656 yards on the ground and has found the endzone six times, something he failed to do for the entirety of last season. His 5.0 yards per carry rank in the top half of qualifying ball carriers in 2022.

A.J. Brown’s acquisition in the offseason has boosted the Eagles’ offense making it one of the best in the league. The former Tennessee Titan has been targeted 69 times, catching 43 passes for 718 yards and six touchdowns. Tight end Dallas Goedert and wide receiver DeVonta Smith each have 40 receptions and a pair of touchdowns a piece.

The Pick is In

The Eagles had no trouble containing the Commanders the first time these two teams met back in September. Philadelphia will get it done again at home, building a quick double-digit lead and not looking back.
