Big Powerhouse Showdown Between Sooners and Buckeyes

Ohio Stadium is the setting for this key early-season matchup as the #5 Oklahoma Sooners (1-0) from the Big 12 visit the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0) from the Big Ten. The Sooners come to this game after beating UTEP 56-7 in their season opener. The Buckeyes also won their first game, as they took down Indiana 49-21. Our Oklahoma plays Ohio State college football free pick offers the Buckeyes at -7.5 and the over/under at 63.5. The game will kick off tonight at 7:30 p.m. E.T.

Oklahoma Offense vs. Buckeyes Defense

QB Baker Mayfield leads the Sooner offense. In his first game, Mayfield passed for 329 of the 496 total Oklahoma passing yards. He completed 95 percent of his tosses, connecting for three TDs. He did not toss an interception. Mayfield spread out their passing attack, as Baker hit four different receivers with touchdown passes. TE Mark Andrews had seven receptions for 134 yards and one TD. WR Jeff Badet caught four passes, crossing the goal line once. The rush attack includes Abdul Adams, Marcelias Sutton, and Trey Sermon. Each player had 50-plus yards, while Sutton crossed the goal line once.

Although the OSU defense did not give up a rushing TD last week against Indiana and they only allowed 17’ yards on the ground, they did give up three TD passes and a total of 420 reeving yards. If they cannot control the Sooners’ pass attack, Oklahoma could stay in this game to the bitter end. The frontline is seasoned, but the secondary is overall inexperienced and untested. Mayfield could have a good day against this team.

Ohio State Offense vs. Sooners Defense

His first time out this season QB J.T. Barrett connected on 57 percent of his passes for 304 yards and three TDs. He’ll need to do better than that to win this game. Junior WR Parris Campbell is very dangerous and has the potential to make a big play. Freshman RB J.K. Dobbins carried the ball 29 times for 181 yards. He could have a good game against this new Sooner D-line.

The Oklahoma frontline has all been rebuilt. It’s hard to say how good they are since they were not really tested in their first game. Two of three Sooner linebackers return and the entire secondary is experienced and solid. Look for sophomore corner Jordan Thomas, who grabbed two picks and had 17 PBU in his freshman season, to be involved tonight. Also senior SS Steven Parker, who notched two interceptions, had four PBU, and totaled three TFL, could be instrumental. Of the LBs, ILB Emmanuel Beal and OLB Ogbonnia Orkoronkwo can both be difference-makers.
