NHL Pick: Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg Jets

Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg JetsOverview

The Colorado Avalanche are in Winnipeg tonight where they take on Central division rivals the Winnipeg Jets. The Avalanche haven’t had much luck versus the Jets over the last season or so losing 4 of the last 6 meetings including the last 4 straight in Winnipeg.

Head to Head Trends

Avalanche are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Winnipeg.
Over is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Jets (-140)

The Winnipeg Jets are 6th in the Central Division with 22 points 12 points back of the 1st place Dallas Stars. The Jets got off to a quick start this season winning 8 of their first 13 games but they have really struggled since winning just 2 of their last 8 games. The Jets have a solid offense averaging 2.71 goals per game but their goaltending/defense hasn’t been all that great allowing 3.05 goals per game and that has gone up to 3.60 goals per game over their last 10. The Jets as a team tend to play better at home but especially their defense who are allowing just 2.67 goals per game on home ice.

Winnipeg Jets Trends

Jets are 2-6 in their last 8 overall.
Over is 5-2 in Jets last 7 vs. Central.

Colorado Avalanche (+130)

The Colorado Avalanche are last in the Central Division with 15 points 19 points out of 1st place and 15 points is also tied with the Edmonton Oilers for last place in the entire NHL right now. This certainly wasn’t the start the Avalanche were hoping for this season but they have a lot of talent and I think they will bounce back and at least be a .500 team. The Avalanche actually have slightly better numbers then the Jets averaging 2.80 goals per game on offense while allowing 3.05 goals per game on defense.

Colorado Avalanche Trends

Avalanche are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Central.
Over is 10-4 in Avalanche last 14 vs. a team with a losing record.

Conclusion

I like the Colorado Avalanche over the Jets in this one tonight. I think both of these teams are very similar and match up pretty evenly so I think the Avalanche as a +130 dog does offer some value. With both teams not all that great on defense I think parlaying the Avalanche moneyline with the over might be a good play with a decent payout.
