Kansas City Chiefs at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

The Kansas City Chiefs (1-2, 0-1 away) will try and get things back on track on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles (1-2, 0-1 home). Both teams are reeling after suffering back-to-back losses in Week 2 and Week 3.

Sunday’s kickoff is at 1 p.m. EST at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA. The Chiefs are a 7-point road favorite, and the total over-under is at 55 points.

What to Know – Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City is in a rare spot with an under .500 record. The season is still early, and the Chiefs have lost their two games by a combined seven points. Head coach Andy Reid returns to the City of Brotherly Love for the second time since being fired in 2012.

The Chiefs score 30.7 points per game behind 420.3 yards of total offense. Kansas City’s defense surrenders 31.7 points and allows 440.7 yards of offense per game.

Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has accounted for nine touchdowns through the air and one on the ground. His favorite targets continue to be matchup nightmares for opposing defenses. Tight end Travis Kelce (20 receptions, 289 yards, 3 TDs) and wideout Tyreke Hill (19 receptions, 267 yards, 1 TDs) highlight the KC passing attack that is one of the best in the league.

The over has hit in two of Kansas City’s first three games of the season, and the total has surpassed 60 points or more in the last two contests.

What to Know – Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles rolled in the season-opener against the Falcons but have stumbled over the last two weeks, including a 41-21 defeat last week to the Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia looks to get back on track and will need to improve on both sides of the ball to do so.

Offensively, the Eagles average 21.3 points and 389.3 yards of offense per game. Philadelphia’s defense is allowing 21.3 points and 330.7 yards of offense to their opponents. The Eagles have been one of the best against the pass, holding teams to 197.0 yards through the air.

Second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts has thrown five touchdown passes and is the leading rusher with 179 yards on the ground. Hurts threw a pair of interceptions against the Cowboys, his first turnovers of the year.

Philadelphia completely abandoned the run in the loss last week, using their running backs just three times in the contest. Running back Miles Sanders needs to be a focal point of the offense, averaging an impressive 5.2 yards per carry when given the ball.

In five of the last six games, the overs have hit when the Eagles face AFC West opponents, including five of the seven against the Chiefs.

The Pick is In

We are going to stay away from the spread in this one and focus on the total. These two teams have offenses that can put up some serious points against inferior defenses.

Although the Eagles have been solid against the pass, they haven’t faced a combination of Mahomes, Kelce, and Hill. The total is high, but we see these teams each scoring in the high 20s or 30s in this one.
