NFL Week 7 Seahawks at Cardinals Betting Preview

Seattle Tries to Get to 6-0

The week 7 Seahawks at Cardinals betting matchup is drawing interest on both sides. Oddsmakers have Seattle as -3.5 favorites on the road, but that hook looms large for a team that, although 5-0, has played in a lot of close games this season. Arizona is on a quick turnaround, but on a short week with momentum after destroying Dallas 38-10 on Monday night as +1 point road underdogs.

The betting total for Sunday night’s game is 54.5, a number that is likely to get pounded on the high side in a matchup between Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray. The Cardinals have been on the road in each of the last three games, but fell 26-23 to Detroit as -4.5 favorites their last contest in Phoenix.

Seattle Coming Off a Bye Week

The Seahawks have the rare two straight games on Sunday Night Football, although there was a bye week sandwiched in between. The last time we saw Seattle in action on the national stage, they needed a DK Metcalf score with 0:15 seconds left to beat a bad Vikings team 27-26 as -6.5 favorites. Squeaking out wins against bad teams is a common theme for Seattle, as their last four wins against the Vikings (27-26), @ Dolphins (23-31), Dallas (38-31), and New Orleans (35-30) have all been a one score game.

Pete Carroll’s team is coming off a bye heading into week 7 Seahawks at Cardinals betting at a particular advantage considering Arizona is on the short week after playing in Dallas on Monday. If Seattle’s wins have come against bad teams, there should be some skepticism about Arizona coming in on a two game win streak against the Jets and Cowboys.

It goes without saying that the Cardinals have yet to face a QB like Russell Wilson this season, which is why Arizona’s passing defense ranks 11th in the NFL. The Cardinals defense ranks 2nd in points allowed, but that’s what happens when you play Washington, Detroit, Carolina, the Jets, and an Andy Dalton – led Cowboys team the last five weeks. Wilson has 19 TDs to just 3 INTs this season, and Seattle has put up at least 27 points in each of their five wins.

Is Arizona For Real?

The Cardinals cruised in a dominating Monday night win at Dallas. The big positive in last week’s win was the running game, as Kenyon Drake churned out 164 yards on 20 carries with 2 TD. Murray added 74 yards on the ground, to go with 188 through the air despite a 9/24 passing night.

The Seattle defense could be vulnerable on the ground, as they gave up 201 yards rushing in their last game to a Minnesota team missing Dalvin Cook. Ironically enough, the undefeated Seahawks rank dead last in yards allowed (471.2), and passing yards given up per game (370.4). That’s both an indictment on Seattle’s defense, and an attribute to how good their offense has been. Sunday night’s betting total is 54.5, a number that hasn’t hit in the last two Seahawks games or the last three Cardinals tilts.

With Sunday Night gamblers likely attacking the ‘over’ 54.5 in a supposed ping-pong match between Wilson and Murray, it’s not a bad time to slip in on the ‘under.’ The Cardinals defense has only allowed 10 points in each of the last two games, albeit to the Jets and Cowboys. Arizona is also back home for the first time in three games, while Seattle has only gone on the road once in their last four games.
