NBA Friday February 10th Mavericks at Kings Betting Preview

No Doncic - Irving Pairing Yet

Sacramento fans have to relive their passing on Luka Dončić in the 2018 draft (for Marvin Bagley) every time Dallas visits town. At least in Friday’s Mavericks at Kings betting matchup Sacramento won’t get torched by Dončić – as he is scheduled to miss his fourth straight game with a heel injury.

The Mavericks will still be star-studded for this matchup as Kyrie Irving plays his second game since being acquired from the Nets. Irving had 24 points on Wednesday in a 110-104 win over the Clippers, but the 3rd place Kings are still the -4 point favorite here and 63% of the betting public likes Sacramento.

Why Dallas Can Cover +4 Points

The Mavericks were expecting to come out a little discombobulated on Wednesday considering it was Irving’s first game with the team, but they actually looked great rushing out to a 41-25 lead in the 1st quarter without looking back. The Clippers were -8.5 home favorites in that game and had won 7 of their previous 9.

They didn’t have Dončić’s  33.4 ppg on Wednesday but they still played their top 10 scoring defense in holding Kawhi Leonard to 18 points and Paul George 20. That duo had both averaged just under 30 ppg each their previous two games.

The Mavericks have now won four of their last five and have covered the number in each of their last four. Dallas is also 4-1 ATS in their last five road tilts and have won three of the last four against the Kings.

Why Sacramento Can Cover -4

Will the Kings “light the beam” on Friday night? You can bet they would love to in a very critical #3 vs #4 matchup of Western Conference opponents as many people don’t believe that Sacramento is really as good as they have been playing this season at 31-23.

It might be time to believe in the home team ahead of the Mavericks at Kings betting matchup. Sacramento just wrapped up a 4-3 road trip which isn’t great – but it was also a long one. Friday’s game at the Golden 1 Center is the first since January 25th and the Kings are 16-11 at home on the season.

Doncic has averaged a 27.5/10.2/8.8 line in 11 career games vs. Sacramento so having him out of the lineup doesn’t hurt the Kings’ feelings here. De’Aaron Fox continues to be red hot for the Kings as he has gone for 30+ points and 10+ assists in two of his last three while Sacramento also has nice depth with six players scoring 12+ ppg.

Sacramento has had a day off to regroup from a long road trip, but will it be enough? The Mavericks on the other hand have been on the West Coast since a 119-113 loss to the Warriors on February 4th.

Dallas could have the fatigue advantage here and they are still energized by the addition of Irving, who gets to be the big dog for at least one more game until a possible Dončić return.
