Texas Rangers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Game 5 of 2023 World Series Preview

Game 5 of the 2023 World Series is set for Wednesday night, and it could be the final game of the series. The Texas Rangers come into this game with a 3-1 series lead, and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be looking to survive.

Texas has now won all 10 road games that they have played during the postseason, and that is easily a Major League Baseball record. The Rangers are trying to win the first World Series championship in franchise history.

Arizona is trying to win its first World Series title since 2001, but it now has some serious work to do. The Diamondbacks were able to steal a game in Texas in this series, but they gave home field advantage back right away in this series.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are the moneyline favorites at -110 in Game 5 on Wednesday night.

Texas Swinging the Bats

The Texas Rangers were a great offensive team during the regular season, and they have been putting on a show in the World Series. Texas has scored 21 runs through the first four games, and that has allowed them to take this 3-1 series lead.

Corey Seager has been on a tear during the entire playoffs, but he also has three home runs in the World Series. Texas is playing without Adolis Garcia, and that does take away a huge bat in this lineup.

Nathan Eovaldi will be on the mound for Texas on Wednesday night, and he has gone 4-0 with a 3.52 ERA during the playoffs. The Rangers have a bullpen that is a bit tired, and they need a dominant start from their ace in this game.

Gallen Going For D-Backs

The Arizona Diamondbacks will send Zac Gallen to the mound on Wednesday night, and that’s the perfect man to pitch for them. Gallen has gone just 2-2 with a 5.27 ERA during the playoffs, but he was terrific during the regular season.

Arizona is not going to win a slugfest against Texas, and the Diamondbacks have to find a way to keep this to a low-scoring affair. The Diamondbacks also have a bullpen that is a bit worn down, and it’s going to be a key to have Gallen deliver in this one.

Corbin Carroll must set the tone at the top of the lineup for the Diamondbacks as they will need to apply a bit of pressure. Arizona did score seven runs in the Game 4 loss and that offense has a bit of momentum at the plate.

Diamondbacks Survive Another Game

It would take a miracle for the Diamondbacks to win three straight to win the series, but that’s not the goal on Wednesday night. Arizona is simply trying to keep their season alive, and they have the right pitcher on the mound to get that done.

Texas showed off the talent on Tuesday night, but this team has been incredibly streaky all season long. Don’t expect another massive offensive performance in this game, and the Rangers will be frustrated at the plate.

Bet on the Arizona Diamondbacks at -110 to win Game 5 of the World Series and send the action back to Texas.
