Miami Marlins vs Colorado Rockies – MLB Preview – June 2, 2025

The Miami Marlins will host the Colorado Rockies at loanDepot Park on Monday night. First pitch is set for 6:40 PM ET. Both teams enter this three-game series trying to bounce back from weekend losses and overall poor starts to the season.

Colorado has dropped eight straight games and owns a league-worst 9-50 record. Miami is 23-34 but has played better at home, going 14-17. These teams have not faced each other since August 2024, when Colorado took three of four in Denver.

Marlins Preview – Edwards Returns, Meyer on the Mound

The Marlins will send Max Meyer to the mound. He is 3-4 with a 4.53 ERA this season. In his only career start against Colorado, he allowed five runs in five innings during a loss last year.

Miami averages 4.07 runs per game but allows 5.46. They have scored just six runs over their last three games. Xavier Edwards had a strong return from injury on Sunday, going 5-for-5 to tie a team record for hits in a game.

The Marlins’ bullpen has improved lately. Over the last three games, they have allowed only four earned runs in 19.2 innings. Ronny Henriquez and Anthony Bender have been steady in relief with ERAs under 2.50.

Rockies Preview – Marquez Still Searching for Wins

German Marquez gets the start for Colorado. He is 1-7 with a 7.13 ERA. However, he has pitched better recently, allowing just three earned runs in his last 13 innings against the Phillies and Cubs.

Colorado has the lowest scoring offense in MLB, putting up just 3.12 runs per game. Orlando Arcia has added a spark, going 3-for-6 with a home run since joining the team. Still, the Rockies have lost 50 games and are just 3-28 on the road.

The bullpen has been one of the few bright spots, with a 3.55 ERA. Jake Bird and Zach Agnos have been sharp in recent outings. The Rockies’ relievers have allowed just seven earned runs in their last 29.2 innings.

Betting Prediction

The Marlins are -188 favorites with a total of 8 runs. Both teams rank near the bottom of the league in most categories. But Miami has more offensive upside and the better starting pitcher on Monday night.

Colorado has lost 8 straight and has scored three or fewer runs in six of those games. Look for Miami to take the opener, but with scoring down on both sides, the under could also be a strong play.

Pick: Marlins -188 & Under 8

It could be a struggle to score in this one. In the end though, the Miami Marlins are going to win this game. We are also going to take the UNDER 8 runs, as the Rockies really struggle to score, and the Marlins are not an offensive power house.

Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your MLB betting!
