Detroit Tigers vs Baltimore Orioles – MLB Preview – June 12, 2025

The Detroit Tigers take on the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. This is the final game of a three-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM ET.

Detroit leads the season series 5-3 and has already shut out Baltimore once this year. The Tigers are 44-25 overall and 21-16 on the road. The Orioles sit at 27-39 and are 13-18 at home after winning 10-1 on Wednesday night.

Tigers Preview – Skubal Aims to Stay Sharp

Tarik Skubal starts for Detroit. He is 6-2 with a 2.16 ERA and 105 strikeouts over 83 1/3 innings. In his last outing, he threw 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball in a win over the Cubs. He has not allowed a walk in his last three starts.

Skubal has dominated Baltimore in his career. He shut them out over six innings in April with 11 strikeouts and is 3-1 with a 1.52 ERA against them overall. He has given up zero earned runs in his last three starts vs Baltimore.

Detroit’s pitching staff is one of the best in the league. Their team ERA is 3.27, and they allow just 3.57 runs per game. On offense, they average 4.80 runs per game and have scored at least five runs in four of their last six wins.

Orioles Preview – Can the Bats Stay Hot?

Dean Kremer gets the start for Baltimore. He is 5-6 with a 4.98 ERA. In his last start, he gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings to the A’s. He has not allowed a home run in his last four starts.

Kremer has struggled against Detroit. He is 0-2 with an 8.44 ERA in two career starts. He allowed five runs in 5 2/3 innings the last time he faced them, which was a loss to Skubal back in April.

The Orioles are hitting better lately, scoring 10 runs in Wednesday’s win. Jordan Westburg has homered in both games this series after coming off the injured list. But the Orioles have the league’s worst slugging and OPS against left-handed pitching.

Betting Prediction

Detroit is favored at -190 on the moneyline with the total set at 8.0 runs. The run line is Tigers -1.5 at -118. Baltimore is +155 as a home underdog. The Orioles hit lefties poorly, and Skubal has a strong track record in this matchup.

Detroit should control the game with Skubal on the mound. Baltimore had a big game Wednesday, but they have been inconsistent and struggle against top pitching. A 5-2 or 6-2 win for the Tigers looks likely. Detroit should cover the spread.

Pick: Tigers -1.5

Detroit wins this one pretty easily and keeps rolling. The top team in the American League Central just keeps stacking wins!
