In final bowl game for Saturday, Dec 23, the Appalachian State Mountaineers (8-4) take on the Toledo Rockets (11-2). The Rockets are scoring 39.2 PPG and are averaging 509 yards of offense per contest. QB Logan Woodside (64.9 COMP%, 28 TDs, 5 INTs) is an excellent pocket-passer. He has four fine receivers to toss too, including his top pass catcher Diontae Johnson. Johnson has 72 catches for 1,257 yards, and he’s scored 13 TDs. In addition, senior RB Terry Swanson has accumulated 1,319 yards on 231 carries. He has 14 touchdowns, while RB Shakif Seymour has scored a dozen times. This is a deep and skilled offense. Toledo is holding opponents to 25.6 PPG, and their D has a tough time versus the run. They have posed 15 picks, over 20 sacks, and over 50 TFL. The D is good, but not quite as accomplished as Appalachian State’s.
