Week 10 Free NFL Pick

New York Jets Take on Winston-less Buccaneers

It’s not a game that screams excitement off the top of your head but for the NFL week 10 free pick the game between the Jets and the Bucs might be the best chance to make some money. Tampa Bay was in the NFL news cycle for all the wrong reasons last week following Jameis Winston’s sideline antics against the Saints and WR Mike Evans subsequent involvement in his QB’s defense. Winston is out today (and possibly for weeks) but could the Buccaneers actually be in a better place without the former #1 pick?

The NFL week 10 free pick is also a matchup of QB’s facing their former teams. That happens every time Josh McCown plays as he’s suited up for roughly 48 different squads in his NFL career. Today’s game is also being billed as a revenge setting for Bucs starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, who put up career numbers as the Jets signal caller but also had somewhat of an unceremonious exit.

Jets Getting Some Oddsmaker Love

At this point Josh McCown is going to play forever isn’t he?

With Winston out and Mike Evans serving a one-game suspension for his role in last week’s melee, oddsmakers have made the 4-5 Jets slight -1 point favorites over Tampa Bay. New York does have the advantage of added rest, having had two extra days off after last Thursday’s 34-21 win over Buffalo. It was an impressive win, but how soon we forget how the Jets were Alice in Chains prior to that – down in a hole. The Jets lost three straight prior and only beat Cleveland by a field goal.

New York QB Josh McCown has been controlling the ball lately, throwing 6TD to just 1 INT the last three games. Once again, don’t forget that he threw five picks in the four games prior. Luckily for Jets backers in the NFL week 10 free pick the veteran QB will be up against statistically one of the worst defenses in the NFL as the Bucs rank 28th in total yards, is 30th against the pass, and 22nd versus the run.

Can Tampa Bay be Better Without Winston?

Could it ironically be the replacing of Winston that leads to Desean Jackson’s breakout for the season?

The NFL week 10 free pick sees Ryan Fitzpatrick starting for Tampa Bay after spending the last two years with the Jets. After New York informed Fitzpatrick that his services were no longer needed, he contemplated retirement until Tampa coach Dirk Koetter reached out to the veteran to have him run his offense in a back-up role. Fitzpatrick will be making his first start with Tampa, but he did throw for 290 and 3TD in a back-up role against Arizona.

The Jets D looked much better last week against the Bills but they’ve still got their fair share of holes. NY is 24th in total yards allowed and gives up 230+ through the air and 121 on  the ground. The Bucs are without Evans, but they’ve still got plenty of offensive star power with Desean Jackson, OJ Howard, Doug Martin, and Cameron Brate – and an experienced signal caller that knows how to keep them happy.

NFL Week 10 Free Pick Betting

The Bucs actually opened up as -1.5 favorites but have been bet onto the other side with the Jets now giving -1 on the road. 64% of the public likes the Jets versus a Tampa Bay team that has lost five straight. The Bucs have lost five it’s true, but look at the gauntlet that they ran which includes New Orleans, Buffalo, Carolina, New England, and Arizona in Adrian Peterson’s debut.

Tampa might not be as bad as their record indicates and they may actually get an offensive boost with Fitzpatrick under center. You get in the best shape of your life when you want to make your ex jealous and that’s what Fitz does today.

Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +1
