Wednesday September 9th Rockies at Padres Betting Preview

San Diego is Red Hot and Huge Favorites at Petco

The Dodgers have a +99 run differential on the season yet San Diego is just 4.5 GB in the NL West heading into September 9th Rockies at Padres betting. “Slam Diego” uncorked another bases loaded home run on Tuesday night to take a 14-5 win over Colorado following a low scoring 1-0 victory in the series opener.

As expected, San Diego is a huge -175. Is there value in the Padres -1.5 run line at +110 considering the team is on a three game win streak and has won 7 of 10 overall? Colorado has dropped two in a row overall and four straight to the Padres. San Diego is 6-3 vs. the Rockies as the teams enter their final meeting of the season.

Things are Up and Down for the Rockies

Colorado was a +210 underdog on Tuesday as they were facing Mike Clevinger making his San Diego debut. The Rockies didn’t seem like a bad wager after losing just 1-0 on Monday and taking two from the Dodgers prior to that. A Nolan Arenado HR gave Colorado a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning but San Diego had plated 10 runs by the end of the 2nd.

The Colorado offense could be in trouble again coming into September 9th Rockies at Padres betting. The team was shut out on Monday and hasn’t had much success against San Diego starter Zach Davies this season. Colorado has plated just 3ER in 10.1 IP against Davies and have a collective .203 average in 123 team AB vs. the San Diego starter.

Anthony Senzatela (3-1, 3.33 ERA) might not get a whole lot of run support on Wednesday night. The Colorado starter might not need much though as he has allowed 2 ER or less in three of his last four starts and six of eight on the season.

Colorado couldn’t hold on after an early Nolan Arenado home run on Tuesday.

Padres Look Like a Solid Wager

San Diego has had success recently going 7-3 over their last 10. The Padres are also 14-6 at home this year as well as 6-3 vs. Colorado in 2020 so there’s some great value on Jayce Tingler’s team on Wednesday.

The Padres offense is clicking as their first hit on Tuesday was a grand slam, their 7th of the season. Wil Myers did the honors this time and he’s also gone 9-23 with two doubles, a triple, and HR vs. Senzatela. Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis, Jr. have also combined to 7-19 vs. the Colorado starter.

Zach Davies (6-2, 2.23 ERA) has had success pitching against the Rockies this season allowing just 3 ER in two starts. Both of those outings came at hitter-friendly Coors Field too which makes the results that much more impressive. Davis has a 1.32 ERA in two starts at Petco this season.

September 9th Rockies at Padres Betting Pick

It’s hard not to like the Padres by a lot in Wednesday’s series finale. Davies has been great all year and has already had some success against Colorado in two starts at Coors Field. Colorado couldn’t hold on to an early 3-0 lead on Tuesday, and that has given San Diego momentum.

Free Pick: Padres -1.5 (+110)
