Wednesday November 14th MAC Free Pick

Buffalo Looks to Clinch the MAC East With a Win at Ohio Wednesday Night

The Buffalo Bulls can put the stamp on a tremendously successful 2018 campaign with a win at Ohio in the November 14th NCAAF MAC free pick. A victory clinches the East for the Bulls and punches their ticket to Detroit to play in the conference championship game for the first time in a decade. It’s not going to be easy though. The Ohio Bobcats are 4-0 at home this season and are holding on to title hopes of their own. By winning out and having Buffalo drop their last two it would be Ohio boarding that plane to Motown. Oddsmakers have made the Bobcats -2.5 favorites at home and both teams have value in this contest.

Buffalo Aims to Win This Battle of the QB’s

With all the eyes on Jackson and the passing game it could be Patterson on the ground that decides this contest.

Arguably the two greatest quarterbacks in the MAC will be on display in the November 14th NCAAF MAC free pick. Buffalo hopes their signal caller will give them the edge and there’s no reason to think Tyree Jackson won’t do just that. Two weeks against a solid Miami-Ohio team Jackson threw for 3TD’s and ran for 3 more. He has put up 30 total scores on the year and tonight will be facing an Ohio team that is 112th in the country vs. the pass. The Bulls also feature a counter-attack on offense in the form of freshman RB Jaret Patterson who has gone for 90+ yards in each of the last 5 games. Ohio allowed Miami-OH to run for 160 yards on 4.7 ypc last week so there should be room for Patterson and the ground game. You can’t overlook Anthony Johnson through the air however as the receiver hauled in 8 passes for 263 yards and 3TD two weeks ago vs. Miami-Ohio.

Buffalo has to have the edge in the defensive battle in tonight’s contest. The Bulls have allowed 17 points or less in 3 of the last 4 games and rank 22nd in the country in total yards allowed. Buffalo is 11th in the country in passing yards surrendered (174.3) and is also relatively staunch against the run (153.9). The Bulls have won five straight and are 4-0 on the road this season.

Ohio Will Try to Outlast This War of Attrition

Rourke will get his for the Ohio offense but can his defense slow down the Buffalo attack?

The November 14th NCAAF MAC free pick will see Buffalo’s #1 defense in the MAC take on an Ohio ground game that has amassed nearly 1300 rushing yards and 14TD over their last 4 games. Second year QB Nathan Rourke will keep Ohio in the game tonight because he simply doesn’t make mistakes (10 TD / 1 INT last 4 games). Rourke can run too with 8 scores on the year but AJ Oullette will run after going for 168 vs. Miami-OH last week. Over the last four games Ohio has averaged 47 ppg which is one of the reasons tonight’s O/U has soared to 66.

For as good as the Ohio offense has been over the past month, their defense has settled into a nice groove too with 14 points or less allowed in 3 of the last 4 games. Buffalo’s offense is a whole different ballgame however. That being said Ohio did hold the Bulls relatively in check even though they lost last year’s matchup 24-31. Johnson had 6 catches for 155 yards and 2TD for Buffalo in the ’17 game so how will the Bobcats defense stop him and Jackson tonight?

November 14th NCAAF MAC Free Pick Betting

There’s some crazy reverse line movement in this game as 78% of the public is on Buffalo yet the line has shifted from the Bulls -1 to Ohio -2.5. There’s definitely some concern for Ohio bettors regarding the Buffalo offense but you have to like the Bobcats ground game and the fact that they’re at home. The home team has won every game in this series since 2010 and Buffalo hasn’t won in Athens since 2008. The Bulls plus the points are appealing, but Ohio is the play.

MAC Free Pick: Ohio Bobcats -2.5
