Saturday August 29th Golden Knights vs Canucks Betting Preview

Vancouver's Game Two Win May Not Be a Fluke

August 29th Golden Knights vs Canucks betting sees Western Conference powerhouse Vegas a big favorite at -210 despite losing game two. Vancouver looked starstruck in game one, but regained their offensive stride on Tuesday in a 5-2 series tying victory.

Vegas has been a -190 and a -199 favorite so far through two games so oddsmakers definitely like the Golden Knights on Saturday night (9:45, NBCSN) with the largest odds of the series thus far. The total is 6, and there could be some scoring tonight as both teams are on three days rest after the recent postponements.

Vegas and Lehner Ready for a Bounce Back?

Game two was strange for Vegas on both ends of the ice. Their two goals scored were a stark contrast from the 9 netted in the 4-3 series finale vs. Chicago and the 5-0 opener of the Western Conference semifinals vs. Vancouver last Sunday.

Goaltender Robin Lehner allowing 5 goals (one was an empty netter) was also a surprise as he hadn’t allowed more than three to the Blackhawks in any of the five games last round. Lehner also only faced 26 shots and was coming off a SO win in game one where he also faced 26 shots but stopped them all. Lehner has shown he will give up some scores, allowing 3+ in three of the last five this postseason.

Can Vegas get back on track offensively in August 29th Golden Knights vs Canucks betting? Five different players scored in the series opener, but the Golden Knights were stonewalled on 38 of 40 shots on Tuesday. This is a Vegas offense that was tops in the league in SOG during the regular season while Vancouver ranked 28th in SOG allowed. Will the constant peppering eventually get to the Canucks?

It’s been a very back and forth series thus far between Vegas and Vancouver.

Vancouver Ready to Take Control?

The 0-5 loss by Vancouver in game one was a surprisingly dismal offense performance. Give credit where credit is due to Vegas, but the Canucks offense being shut out was an anomaly instead of the norm. Travis Green’s team had scored 4+ in five of seven games prior.

The Canucks did rediscover their scoring groove in game two though as Bo Horvat came to life with two goals, his first points in the last six games. Elias Pettersson also took a more hands on approach with a goal and two assists. The biggest thing the game two win did was give Vancouver confidence following the game one shutout.

Jakob Markstrom had an important game two performance, stopping 38 of 40 Golden Knights shots. The Vancouver goaltender allowed five scores on 34 SOG in game one but bounced back nicely on Tuesday. Markstrom does face a ton of shots though (34+ in seven straight) so one has to wonder if that will start to take it’s toll in a high stakes playoff series.

August 29th Golden Knights vs Canucks Betting Pick

There’s no value on Vegas at -210, the highest price of the series thus far coming off being SO in game two. With as many shots as the Golden Knights are getting off on Markstrom and with the Canucks showing the ability to get to Lehner last game the total is the play.
