PGA 2021 Honda Classic Betting Preview

Very Thin Field for Weekend in Palm Beach Gardens

2021 Honda Classic betting could easily be considered a crossroads weekend. The TPC Players was last weekend and the $15,000,000 purse (largest of the season) drew 48 of the top 50 golfers in the world. The highly anticipated WGC Match Play is next weekend in Austin ,and the Masters is now less than a month away. This means a lot of top golfers are taking the weekend off.

Sungjae Im comes into the final stretch on the Spring Florida tour as the defending champ as well as the odds-on favorite at +1100. Daniel Berger had been the top bet to win this weekend, but he was forced to withdrawal with a rib injury. +1100 is still very high for a favorite, so there’s ROI to be had in this tournament.

Lee Westwood +1600

The easy approach would be that the 47-year-old Lee Westbrook finally hits a wall playing in his fourth straight tournament. Does anybody really expect Westwood to compete in a third straight tournament, posting back-to-back runner-ups in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS.

Westwood should have some confidence knowing that the field is highly diminished this week. He’s finished 2nd to Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas the last two weeks, two of the top 5 golfers in the world.
Pick: Westwood Top 5 Finish +400

Russell Henley +2800

That’s not a bad price for Russell Henley, the 2014 winner here in Palm Beach Gardens. Henley’s last four finishes have been MC, 38, 30, MC, so there’s not a lot of confidence riding with the Hawaii native. Two top 10s in eight trips to the Honda Classic give Henley some value in this spot, especially after an 8th place finish here last season.
Pick: 1st Round Top 10 Russell Henley +260

Rickie Fowler +4500

Rickie Fowler is also a former Honda Classic winner, taking home the 2017 trophy. Fowler winning at this course wasn’t random either, as his home in Jupiter, Florida is less than a 20-minute drive from the PGA National (Champion) course.

Fowler hasn’t done much so far in 2021 to exude confidence heading into 2021 Honda Classic betting. Fowler has three missed cuts and also finished 72nd in his last five tournaments, but still knows this course like the back of his hand. Fowler has 4 top 10s at the Honda Classic, and has only one tournament after this to qualify for the Masters.
Pick: Rickie Fowler Top 10 Finish +375

Byeong Hun An + 8000

A South Korean golfer won this even last year, with Sungjae Im finishing -6 to capture his first PGA win. There’s actually a really good chance Byeong Hun An can make it two in a row at the Honda Classic.

Hun An wasn’t far behind his countryman here last year, finishing 4th at -3. Over the last three rounds of the tournament Hun An was the best golfer in the field shooting a 66, 68, and 67. It was the 76 on Thursday that really killed the 29-year-old. Hun an has an average finish of 15th in three tourneys here.
Pick: Byeong Hun An 1st round top 10 +400
Pick: Byeong Hun An 1st round top 20 +155
Pick: Top Asian Player Hun An +550
