NFL Week 7 Giants at Eagles Betting Preview

Fans Expecting an Ugly One in Philadelphia

NFL’s week 7 Giants at Eagles betting matchup doesn’t look the best on paper. This game features a couple of one win teams as New York (1-5) visits Philadelphia (1-4-1), but interestingly enough both are just a game back from Dallas for first place in the NFC East. This meeting actually has playoff implications believe it or not.

The Eagles are -4.5 favorites at home on Thursday night, down from a -6.5 open. Philadelphia is at home with about 7,500 fans in attendance, but are also very banged up. The Giants have momentum coming into the game after getting their first win of the season – but that was against Washington. 61% of the public does like Philadelphia, and the betting total is 44.5.

Can New York Take Advantage on the Short Week?

Philadelphia is kind of up against it in Giants at Eagles betting, with a quick turnaround after a very physical 30-28 home loss to Baltimore Sunday as +10.5 underdogs. The Eagles are also without Zach Ertz, Miles Sanders, and Alshon Jeffrey to name a few.

Can the Giants take advantage of their beat-up division foe on Thursday? New York has actually played well the last three weeks, dropping a 17-9 contest on the road against the Rams (+13.5), falling 37-34 in a wild shootout at Dallas (+7.5), and getting the 20-19 win over Washington last week (-2).

The big problem with New York is that their offense doesn’t scare anybody. Even though Philly is banged up on that side of the ball, they should be able to hang with the Giants who were held to 16 points or less in their first four games of the season. The New York defense is actually decent, ranking top 10 against the run and in the top 12 in overall yards allowed per game.

Can Philadelphia Pull It Together

For all their injuries, the Eagles do likely get WR Desean Jackson and LT Lane Johnson back on Thursday night. The Giants have a solid defense, but Philadelphia has just faced the gauntlet of San Francisco, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore.

One thing the Eagles have to limit on Thursday night is turnovers. Carson Wentz had his first game without throwing an INT on Sunday, and Philadelphia was able to hang with Baltimore (although two TDs with less than 4:00 left made the game look closer than it was). Wentz had 9 INTs in his first five games of the season.

The Philadelphia defense did look good against Lamar Jackson last week, holding the former MVP to under 200 yards passing. Baltimore did amass 182 yards on the ground though. The Steelers ran for 130+ the week before and Ben Roethlisberger had a 3TD day in the 38-29 Pittsburgh win. The Eagles will have a better matchup vs. Daniel Jones on Thursday.

New York would seem like a popular play in this one with Philly missing so many offensive playmakers, but the Eagles have won seven straight in the series. A play that does look solid with the Eagles missing so many offensive weapons and the Giants defense being tough as of late is a low scoring game.
