NFL Pick: Arizona Cardinals at Oakland Raiders

Overview

The Arizona Cardinals head out to Oakland for their week 7 matchup with the Raiders. With the Cardinals being in the NFC and the Raiders being in the AFC these two teams don’t hook up very often just once every four years. The Last time they met was in 2010 with the Cardinals winning 24-23. The Raiders have however covered the spread in the last three meetings.

Head to Head Trends

Raiders are 3-0 in the last 3 meetings ATS.

Oakland Raiders +3

The Oakland Raiders are last in the AFC West with a 0-5 record. The Raiders have not been very good this season but I guess that’s pretty obvious considering they haven’t won a game yet. The Raiders have played the Jets, Texans, Patriots, Dolphins, and Chargers so they’re some solid teams but I wouldn’t exactly say it’s been one of the toughest schedules in the league. The Raiders have the second worst ranked offense in the league averaging just 295 yards and 15.8 points per game. They are slightly better on offense but not too much they are allowing 377 yards and 26.8 points per game.

Oakland Raiders Trends

Raiders are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games.
Raiders are 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

Arizona Cardinals -3

The Arizona Cardinals are 1st in the NFC West with a 4-1 record. The Cardinals have played very well this season and I would say they are probably the most underrated team in the league over the past couple seasons. The Cardinals are 1-1 on the road this season beating the Giants 25-14 and losing to the Broncos 41-20 which is a pretty big loss but it’s on the road in Denver versus Payton Manning and the Broncos so they probably shouldn’t feel super bad about that loss. The Cardinals don’t exactly have the best offense in the league averaging just 308 yards and 23.2 points per game. They do have a good defense although the numbers may not show it allowing 378 yards per game but the Broncos put up close to 500 yards on them so that one game is skewing the numbers a bit.

Arizona Cardinals Trends

Cardinals are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
Cardinals are 10-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

Conclusion

You really have to go with the Cardinals -3 over the Raiders in this one. The Raiders have yet to win and are one of the worst teams in the league so they’re pretty good fade material right now.
