MLB Pick: Milwaukee Brewers at Colorado Rockies

Overview

The Milwaukee Brewers are in Colorado this afternoon for the 2nd game of a three game series with the Rockies. Before yesterdays loss the Rockies had won 4 straight versus the Brewers so look for a bounce back game today from them. Also of note in this one is the over is 17-2-1 in the last 20 meetings overall and 9-0-1 in the last 10 played in Colorado.

Head to Head Trends

Brewers are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings.
Over is 9-0-1 in the last 10 meetings in Colorado.

Colorado Rockies (-120)

The Colorado Rockies are last in the National League West 9.5 games out of 1st place. The Rockies actually got off to a great start this season winning  7 of their first 9 games but things quickly went down hill from there as they lost 11 in a row not too long after. The Rockies did pick up their play after that but they’re slumping pretty hard again losing 9 of their last 10 games. The Rockies offense is picking up of late averaging 4.20 runs per game over their last 5 but their pitching is still horrible allowing 7.80 runs per game over the last 5 games.

On the hill for the Rockies today is Chard Bettis who is 2-2 with a 3.74 ERA in 7 starts this season. Bettis has pitched really good for the most part this season but he did have his worst outing of the year in his last start allowing 5 runs off 7 hits over just 5 innings of work.

Colorado Rockies Trends

Rockies are 0-5 in their last 5 overall.
Rockies are 4-1 in Bettis’ last 5 starts with 4 days of rest.

Milwaukee Brewers (+130)

The Milwaukee Brewers are last in the National League Central a full 20 games behind the 1st place St Louis Cardinals. The Brewers had their little hot streak a couple weeks back when they won 8 of 12 games but that didn’t last long as they have now lost 6 of their last 7 games.

Starting for the Brewers today is Kyle Loshe who is 3-8 with a 6.44 ERA on the season. Loshe has been pretty bad this season he’s already allowed 16 home runs so playing up in the thin Denver air he’s probably going to be in for a rough day.

Milwaukee Brewers Trends

Brewers are 1-6 in their last 7 overall.
Brewers are 0-5 in Lohses last 5 starts with 4 days of rest.

Conclusion

I’m going with the Colorado Rockies over the Brewers in this one. Even though the Rockies haven’t been playing well of late they are playing one of the worst teams in the league at home with a pitcher who has really struggled this season so I expect a big offensive outburst today for the Rockies.
