The New York Islanders finish up their west coast swing tonight in Anaheim where they take on the Ducks. The Islanders haven’t had much luck versus the Ducks over the past half decade winning just 2 of the last 8 meetings including just 1 of the last 5 played in Anaheim.
Head to Head Trends
Islanders are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings.
Islanders are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Anaheim.
Anaheim Ducks (-130)
The Anaheim Ducks are 5th in the Pacific Division with 14 points 6 points back of the 1st place LA Kings. The Ducks had a super rough start to the season losing 9 of their first 10 games in large part to an offense that didn’t bother to show up for the first couple weeks. Over their first 10 games the Ducks scored just 10 goals total and included getting shutout 5 times. It looks like the Ducks are starting to come around a bit they have won 4 of their last 6 games with the 2 losses coming in overtime so they at least picked up a point in those games. Their offense have also picked up averaging 3 goals per game over these last 6 games which is obviously a huge improvement but they still have by far the worst offense in the league.
Anaheim Ducks Trends
Ducks are 1-5 in their last 6 games playing on 1 days rest.
Ducks are 5-13 in their last 18 overall.
New York Islanders (+120)
The New York Islanders are 5th in the Metropolitan Division with 19 points 7 points behind the 1st place New York Rangers. The Islanders got off to a pretty hot start this season winning 6 of their first 9 games but they have since cooled off winning just 2 of their last 8 games. John Taveres missed a few of those games so that could be used as an excuse but since he’s been back they have still lost 4 of 5 and are having some problems putting pucks in the net right now.
New York Islanders Trends
Islanders are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. Western Conference.
Islanders are 22-6 in their last 28 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation.
I like the New York Islanders over the Ducks in this one. I think the Islanders are by far the best dog on the board tonight and I just don’t like the Ducks in general. I thought they were more lucky then good last season and it looks like the hockey gods have finally caught up with them and are making up for last season.
Free Pick: New York Islanders +120
